Treasure Hunting

For Christmas I gave Judd a book with photos and explanations about 100 treasures in Steiermark Austria!  Steiermark is the state that we live in…that just happens to be the most beautiful state in the country of Austria!

We have five remaining months on our mission and we have decided to see as many of these treasures of Austria as possible in the remaining time.  We have earmarked Wednesdays as our treasure hunting day.

Yesterday we went to Seckau, Austria to visit the Benediktiner Abbey.  It is about 45 minutes to the Southwest of Leoben and was well worth the effort to get there.  This monastery schooled men in the liturgical music for the Mass. It was founded in 1140!  Today there are twelve Monks who live there in austerity.  Today the abbey is predominantly used as a school for the arts.
